Government subsidies for solar irrigation in accordance with increasing national renewable energy targets will enhance the business landscape. These technologies have enjoyed considerable popularity, particularly in emerging countries where there is limited access to electrical energy. In these locations, farming acts as the main source of income, and the installation of solar water pumps becomes an effective means to increase the yield through efficient irrigation practices.
Solar water pump is a system which utilizes solar energy to pump water for irrigation purposes, livestock, and domestic applications. The process of working involves usage of photovoltaic cells that make use of solar energy to generate electricity used in running the electrical water pump. The main advantages of a solar water pump include low cost of maintenance, environmental-friendly, and low operational cost, which in turn will elevate the demand of these units.
For instance, the Indian government, in 2025, announced that PM-KUSUM will continue till March 2027, thereby forming the base for PM-KUSUM 2.0, with increased emphasis on irrigation through solar-powered pumps. This program emphasizes the installation of solar-powered off-grid pumps, as well as the solarization of grid-connected pumps. Subsidies for the program range between 60% to 90%, and this leads to reduced costs of irrigation and decreased dependence on diesel.
Solar Water Pumps Market Trends
Increased interest in irrigation systems based on precise water application along with steady innovation will have a positive impact on the growth of the business. Initiatives such as subsidies, tax incentives, and financial aid programs facilitate increased use of solar irrigation systems. In addition, developments in solar panel technology, advanced pump controls, and more efficient energy storage are also increasing the growth potential of this sector.
For instance, the MoU was signed in September 2025 between the Government of Ghana and ISA to ensure solar-powered irrigation pumps can be used across the country. This move will help increase agricultural output through all-year-round farming while at the same time decreasing reliance on unpredictable rainfall seasons. With the implementation of solar power in irrigating water, it will also make irrigation cheap and convenient for farmers.
Solar Water Pumps Market Analysis
The submersible solar water pumps market will exceed USD 2.5 billion by 2035. The increase in the use of solar-powered water pumps for agricultural purposes coupled with an increased focus on water conservation will fuel growth within the business sector. Some of the advantages associated with this system include high efficiency and the direct drawing of water from its natural source. Moreover, the importance of sustainable water usage and the need for more effective and maintenance-free equipment are contributing to this growth.
The AC technology solar water pumps market holds a share of 72.9% in 2025. Renewable energy programs by the government and growing use of solar water pumps in combination with energy solutions will boost the growth within the industry. They offer an efficient and environmentally friendly approach compared to traditional power grid-driven pumps while providing sustainable water resources. Furthermore, their implementation has improved efficiency, reduced emissions, and enhanced a positive business environment.
U.S. solar water pumps market was valued at USD 134.1 million in 2025. Positive government initiatives that seek to promote solar energy usage within agriculture and agrarian industries, as well as those that intend to decrease reliance on non-renewable resources, will improve the business environment. A stronger focus on sustainable water resource management will further strengthen the overall business scenario. Increasing deployment of solar water pumps in remote and off‑grid regions, together with the adoption of micro‑irrigation practices is enhancing industry attractiveness.
Rising demand for clean and sustainable water solutions together with rapid urbanization and industrial expansion will strengthen the Asia Pacific market. The decreasing price of solar panels along with rising cost of fuels is making it more profitable for this industry. Rising consciousness regarding sustainable water management and reduction in carbon footprint is also a contributing factor.
Solar Water Pumps Market Share
The manufacturers operating across the industry are adopting several key strategies to enhance their competitiveness and expand their market share. The first strategy is the innovation of products, which will involve companies concentrating on the development of highly efficient solar water pumps that are durable and cost effective. The other strategy includes partnering with government institutions and other non-governmental organizations to take advantage of any subsidy programs available.

Solar Water Pumps Industry News
In April 2026, Lubi Industries LLP, along with Koraam, has successfully installed a project known as 2.07 MW Solar Pump Mounting Structures Project in the state of Maharashtra. Under this project, the solar-powered agricultural water pumps can be easily installed by using the mounting structures of total 492 units for 3 HP, 5 HP, and 7.5 HP, respectively. The structures are made from high durable materials such as HDGI and pre-galvanized structures. Moreover, some of the structures include advanced technology such as windproof up to 150 kmph.
In January 2026, Shakti Pumps won an order worth USD 2.5 million from the Renewable Energy Department of Haryana State as part of the PM-KUSUM Program. The contract entails the provision and installation of 792 solar-powered pumps in line with the specifications stated in Component B of the project. The project is to take a total of 90 days to complete. It shows the capabilities of the firm when working in government renewable energy projects.
