Demand remains exposed to farm-capex cycles. Misting and fogging equipment competes for budget with ventilation, irrigation, crop-protection, and automation investments, particularly in open-field and price-sensitive operations. The commercial opportunity is therefore strongest where a supplier can link equipment performance to a clear operating outcome: reduced heat exposure, better environmental consistency, faster sanitation coverage, or more precise application.

CEA and regulated livestock facilities reward integrated, fixed systems because a failure in cooling or humidity management can affect a larger operating system. Open-field, nursery, and smallholder customers remain more sensitive to purchase price, maintenance burden, and access to dealer support. This difference explains why the market can sustain both high-growth high-pressure installations and lower-cost low-pressure equipment.
The next competitive shift is likely to occur at the interface between equipment and control. Precision-agriculture adoption is already meaningful in developed markets: 51% of U.S. farmers report using precision-agriculture hardware, while 78% of North American farmers use sprayer section controllers. A misting supplier that provides only atomization hardware risks being displaced by installers and climate-platform providers that control the system specification.

Equipment Type

Application
Cooling & humidity control was the largest application at USD 624.6 million, or 32.9%, in 2025, followed by pest control & crop protection at USD 531.4 million, or 28.0%. The first is linked to climate management in CEA and livestock facilities; the second depends more heavily on crop cycle, crop value, and product-application requirements. Disinfection & sanitation accounted for USD 297.3 million, while fertilizer & nutrient delivery and dust suppression each represented USD 232 million & USD 214.8 million.
Disinfection demand is underpinned by food-hygiene and biosecurity requirements rather than a single equipment category. The Codex General Principles of Food Hygiene, revised in 2022, establish internationally recognized hygiene principles applicable across food-production settings. For fogging suppliers, this supports demand for systems that can deliver disinfectants in difficult-to-reach enclosed environments, but it does not eliminate the need to validate chemical compatibility, application protocols, and local regulatory requirements.
End Use Setting
Greenhouse & CEA was the largest end-use setting at USD 576 million, or 30.0%, and is forecast to grow at approximately 10.5%. The segment's growth rate exceeds the overall market because enclosed production places a direct economic value on environmental consistency. Livestock & poultry farming followed at USD 499 million, or 26.0%, where cooling, dust suppression, and sanitation may be purchased as parts of a facility upgrade rather than as stand-alone equipment.
Open-field crop farming accounted for USD 422 million, or 22.0%. It has a larger physical footprint but lower average system intensity than protected cultivation. Orchards, vineyards & specialty crops represented USD 230 million, where high-value crop economics can support more precise equipment. Nurseries & horticulture accounted for USD 192 million and provide a relatively steady demand base for propagation humidity control and plant-care applications.
Distribution Channel
Distribution channel is a sales-route distinction, not an application method. Direct sales are most relevant for engineered fixed systems where the manufacturer or integrator conducts site assessment, specifies filtration and controls, and remains involved through commissioning. Indirect channels - including dealers, distributors, agricultural-input retailers, installers, and e-commerce platforms - extend access to portable, lower-complexity, and replacement-equipment buyers. Channel design therefore affects service economics and product mix, not how mist is applied.

High-pressure equipment, cooling & humidity control, and CEA form the most coherent premium-growth cluster. They share the same purchasing logic: higher-value production, a need for repeatable environmental control, and a greater willingness to pay for automated fixed installations. The equipment's higher capital requirement is a constraint, but it also creates room for suppliers that can provide engineering, water treatment, and controls as a bundled solution.
The remainder of the market should not be treated as residual demand. Cold/ULV equipment is positioned for biosecurity and precision application, while low-pressure systems and mist fans address accessible cooling needs where the buyer cannot justify a full climate-control installation. Suppliers face a portfolio-management challenge: standardized equipment supports volume, but site-specific system capability drives margin and customer retention.

North America represented USD 440.4 million in 2025, or 23.2% of global revenue, with the United States accounting for USD 331.5 million. India's PMKSY framework helps reduce the entry barrier for eligible micro-irrigation installations, providing financial assistance of 55% for small and marginal farmers and 45% for other farmers, with select states offering additional top-up support. The scheme's micro-irrigation portal identifies active implementation through annual state action plans. For misting suppliers, the opportunity depends on product eligibility, local-channel reach, and the ability to provide equipment suited to fragmented farm structures.
Latin America
Latin America generated USD 211 million in 2025, or 11.0% of global revenue, and is forecast to grow at approximately 8.5%. Brazil accounted for USD 115 million. The region's demand is balanced between livestock cooling, orchard and specialty-crop application, and cost-conscious open-field equipment. Brazil exported USD 199 million of HS 842481 equipment in 2024 , indicating regional capability in the broader spraying-equipment value chain. Asia Pacific leads because it combines China's large protected-cultivation base with expanding demand in India and other agricultural modernization markets. Its growth will not be uniform: China's opportunity is shaped by scale and upgrade demand, whereas India's is shaped by affordability, public support, and lower adoption of connected hardware. A single regional product strategy is unlikely to fit both markets.
MEA's faster growth reflects a more concentrated operational problem: heat management can be central to the viability of protected and livestock production. Yet this also makes maintenance capability a competitive differentiator. Suppliers that treat filtration, spare parts, and service access as core parts of their offer can convert climate exposure into durable installed-system demand; those that do not may encounter early performance failures and weak replacement economics.

This structure reflects varied equipment requirements across greenhouses, livestock housing, open-field crops, orchards, and sanitation settings, as well as the importance of regional installation and service networks.
Condair Group is a notable premium environmental-control participant, reporting CHF 250 million in revenue, more than 1,000 employees, production facilities in Europe, North America, and China, and sales and service operations in 23 countries. Jacto reported approximately BRL 2.40 billion in net operating revenue for fiscal 2024, compared with BRL 3.25 billion in fiscal 2023. pulsFOG represents a specialist export-oriented model. A regional press report cited approximately EUR 3.5 million in revenue and about 25 employees. Its position depends on specialized fogging capability and export distribution rather than scale leadership.
Hardi illustrates the pressure created by cyclical machinery demand. The company reported DKK 371 million in revenue and a DKK 109 million net loss in fiscal 2024/25, compared with DKK 546 million in revenue in fiscal 2023/24. The decline reinforces the importance of product platforms that can generate value through precision functionality, service, and differentiated applications during periods of constrained farm-equipment spending.
