The growing implementation of motion sensors across automotive, industrial, and other applications is boosting product developments by companies. In June 2019, Halonix launched a RADAR-based motion sensor bulb under its sub-brand Halonix Prime. This bulb automatically detects the motion within 15 feet radius and switches off after 60 seconds after the motion subsides. The company is aiming to address household applications with these launches. Manufacturers are innovating their products by implementing AI and machine learning technologies. In July 2019, STMicroelectronics introduced machine learning technology in its inertial sensors for improving the battery life and activity tracking performance in smartphones and wearable devices.

Higher initial costs in implementing automation technologies can hamper the growth of the motion control sensor market in industrial applications. The need for skilled people is another factor limiting the adoption of automation technologies by manufacturers. Motion sensors used in smartphones can automatically allow required permissions to run the apps by detecting the user. However, this can result in malicious activity by using smartphones, hindering the market growth.
