Solution grade and distilled grade are the two types of this product available commercially. Solution grade peracetic acid is an equilibrium mixture of hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid with a catalyst to drive the reaction. The commonly used catalyst is sulfuric acid. On the other hand, distilled grade peracetic acid contains less than 0.5 % hydrogen peroxide and about 1-3 % of acetic acid. Distilled grade product contains water and peracetic acid with minimal traces of starting materials. Solution grade is widely used in most of the applications of peracetic acid and holds the major share in the market
